It Takes An Eco Village

Updated: Sep 19, 2020

LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

During a typical Summer, “I’m bored” is the background of many households. Now add a global pandemic with parents working from home to the mix and stimulating entertainment options can quickly run dry. Especially if you have younger kids in the house.

That's where teacher Stacy and her Montessori-inspired, locally made activity kits come as a welcome reprieve. Yep, you read that right. Locally made activity kits/projects made for young minds.

What started as a fully enrolled and staffed preschool in 2017, Eco Kids Village had to permanently close its doors due to Covid-19. Knowing the pressure parents would be under at home, Stacy took her in-class activities a step-further. With her mom-genuity and years of class experience, the Rainbow Busy Bag activity-kit was born. Next came the Calm-Down kit, the Empowerment kit followed by a dozen others. Each kit is a balanced mix of art, science and sensory experience. Up-cycled and natural materials are used over plastic whenever possible.

I want to instill a love of nature, many cultures and the arts in children of all ages. Each project is designed with the child in mind and sneaks in fun ways of helping them grow and develop skills.

Eco Kids Village also offers a $30 themed monthly subscription box for kids ages 3 to 8. It comes with 3 - 4 activities or crafts as well as educational worksheets, blog access and virtual field trips. The upcoming theme for August is “Wild Art”.
